Why WordPress?

Why do I choose WordPress for most of my clients’ websites?

Take a look at the chart below..

Wordpress Popularity
WordPress Popularity

As you can see, WordPress is by far the most popular CMS (Content Management System) in the world today. Now I absolutely don’t just jump into the “most popular camp” (far from it), but in this instance there are many reasons that WordPress is so popular, a few of which I will address below.

Open Sourced

Open source means that anyone can access the source code and even contribute or amend it as required. This results in very robust and flexible code.

Optimisation

With the global collaboration that comes from Open Source, the code will also naturally become highly Optimised. But with the additional popularity of WordPress, this even works both ways, for example Google would have had optimised it’s own algorithms to index WordPress websites!

Maintainability

With so many WordPress websites out there comes an abundance of expertise and resources available. WordPress has versatile theme and plugin features which allow sophisticated customisation of the website without changing the core of WordPress itself. So even if I create your WordPress website, you could easily find someone else in the future to maintain or make future upgrades, you are not not tied in to my services, unlike some other website developers that use bespoke systems that you would struggle to find anyone else to maintain in the future.
